Where Will Erling Haaland End Up Next Summer?

Erling Haaland: Potential Clubs Next Summer

Amongst the potential superstars of the current footballing generation, world-class performances have seen Erling Haaland cement himself as the most coveted striker in world football in recent seasons. The 21-year-old Norwegian is amongst the most sought-after players in world football, with many predicting him to be the headline transfer next summer.

Haaland arrived at Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in the 2019/20 winter window, and has since, moved mountains in the football world. The striker is regarded as being amongst the most clinical finishers in the game, while his strength, pace, and technical attributes make him amongst the few strikers capable of displaying a well-rounded performance. His 63 goal involvements in 45 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions has earned him an envious reputation, making him amongst the hottest prospects in world football.

The Norwegian international is also coveted for his consistency across all competitions, resulting in several personal accolades despite his young age. Haaland won the Golden Boy award for the 2019/20 season and also broke several records such as, the UEFA Champions League’s youngest player to reach 20 goals and the youngest in the tournament’s history to score in six straight games, among other records.

With clubs already queueing up to acquire the services of the highly-rated Norwegian, Haaland is set to raise a storm amongst clubs in the transfer window next summer. The striker’s €75mn release clause, rising to €90mn owing to performance-based add-ons, comes into effect next year, thus, triggering a potential bidding war amongst Europe’s elite in the coming transfer windows. Owing to the interest of numerous parties, the Norwegian will be the face of the window next summer.

1.) Manchester United

Erling Haaland: Potential Clubs
Haaland is expected to be on the priority list for the manager and the club next summer.

Despite sanctioning the return of Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, the Red Devils are expected to move for Haaland next summer. The Norwegian is earmarked as a long-term target by Ole Gunnar Solsjaer, who failed to lure him to Old Trafford before he moved to Dortmund in 2019. United are amongst the obvious favourites in the race to sign Haaland though the negotiation with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, may be a stumbling block for the club.

The Red Devils have seemingly stitched their relationship with Dortmund after finally landing Jadon Sancho but could reconsider their options based on existing weaknesses in the squad. Haaland is expected to be on the priority list for the manager and the club, however, trimming down the squad will be critical to landing the Norwegian’s signing next summer.

2.) Manchester City

Erling Haaland: Potential Clubs
In the absence of an out-and-out striker at City, the Norwegian could be the final piece of the jigsaw under Pep Guardiola.

After failing to complete the signing of Harry Kane, the Cityzens could turn their attention to Haaland next summer, owing to a significantly lesser transfer fee and greater potential on offer. Though Kane is expected to remain the club’s top transfer target, a move for the Norwegian would not seem out of the blue for the current Premier League champions. City have repeatedly failed at crunch moments in the UEFA Champions League, and Haaland offers the team the indispensable quality and killer instinct upfront.

While a move for Kane is likely to materialise next summer, Haaland could well pursue a move to the blue half of Manchester owing to his father’s history with the club. In the absence of an out-and-out striker at City, the Norwegian could be the final piece of the jigsaw under Pep Guardiola.

3.) Real Madrid

A host of world-class talents gathering under a single roof may give Real the leverage required to bring Haaland to the club.

With Kylian Mbappe likely to join Los Blancos next summer, a move for Erling Haaland would mark the resuscitation of Real Madrid in European football. Owing to financial difficulties in recent seasons, Real Madrid have not been amongst the most active clubs in recent transfer windows. The club only acquired the services of Eduardo Camavinga this summer, while several bids to lure Kylian Mbappe were ultimately rejected by Paris Saint-Germain. However, Los Blancos are expected to have a scintillating window as they prepare to rebuild their squad by registering free agents next summer.

In addition to Mbappe, long-term target Paul Pogba, too, is expected to move to Real Madrid next summer. This, host of world-class talents gathering under a single roof, may give Real the leverage required to bring Haaland to the club. Provided they succeed at sealing a transfer for the Norwegian, the La Liga giants may boast two of the world’s best forwards in their starting line-up for years to come.

4.) Paris Saint-Germain

Erling Haaland: Potential Clubs
PSG serves as an exceptional option for the Norwegian to increase his goal tally across and guide them to European glory in the coming seasons.

Already boasting a fantasy-like forward line this season, PSG, arguably, have the best squad on paper going into the campaign. Despite interest in several players, the Parisian club managed to keep hold of their crucial squad members as they look to push for the Champions League this season. However, with Kylian Mbappe expected to leave the club as a free agent next summer, Erling Haaland serves as the perfect replacement for this position.

PSG boast world-class talent in nearly all areas across the pitch, and Haaland could be the icing on the take for the manager. Owing to their financial muscle and ability to complete deals efficiently, PSG serves as an exceptional option for the Norwegian to increase his goal tally across and guide them to European glory in the coming seasons. However, with the player reportedly keen on a move to Spain or England, Haaland’s preference may prove to be a stumbling block for the Ligue 1 giants next summer.
